Muir

This was a commission created for a 40th birthday, but also to commemorate the completion of a new family retreat in Northern Colorado. After seeing architectural plans and meeting with the owners, I began a deep dive into the history of the area. To start, they gave me a copy of The Meadow, an iconic book about the past generations that struggled to survive in this unforgiving region. They also provided me with a very cool old hand drawn map.

Beyond reading (and loving) The Meadow, I visited the site to hike to and photograph its geographically diverse areas – caves, peaks, river valleys, and rolling hills. I also researched USGS maps, other literature, and historic images, then combined them into two large scale pieces for the new home.
