ESPN // Juan Agudelo
The ESPN / Next project continues, and I am really having a blast. All the athletes are so courteous, polite, humble, and super stoked to be part of each shoot.
Last month I went to Phoenix to photograph 19 year old NY Red Bull Juan Agudelo at their training camp. It was blowing about 30mph on the field, and huge clouds of dust were churned up from the nearby desert.
I briefly saw Thierry Henry, who is probably the most world famous / least known athlete in the US.
At the end of the shoot, Juan asked me when his pic would be in the mag, so that he could show his mom. I love it. A few weeks later, Juan scored an epic tying goal in an exhibition game against Messi and Argentina. Pretty huge for a 19 year old kid:
